Getting here from Nottingham

A countryside sustainable burial option near Nottingham

The Vale of Belvoir Natural Burial Ground offers open sky, a wildflower meadow and 360 degree panoramic views across the Vale of Belvoir. We're about 35 minutes from the city centre, along the A52.

We accept all catchment areas.

We do not have a surcharge for people who do not live in the area like municipal cemeteries and graveyards. Our prices are the same for everyone.

Inclusive and flexible

People love natural burial because it welcomes all religions and faiths, or people with no religion at all. We allow all types of celebration, meaning families can be flexible with funeral plans. We can recommend funeral directors or work with the funeral director of your choice, although families do not need to use a funeral director if they do not wish.

There are no rigid timetables or time slots, ceremonies can take all day if desired.

A greener alternative to a traditional cemetery

Natural Burial is a greener way of returning someone to the earth, using only natural, biodegradable materials. With the site surrounded by nature, many families find it an uplifting and peaceful place to visit and reflect.

There is no embalming, standard coffins or headstones. Instead: a wicker basket, banana leaf or cardboard coffin or a simple shroud.

With the option of a flat wooden graveside plaque or brass plaque on our remembrance wall.

The grave becomes part of a living wildflower meadow, home to bees, insects, butterflies, birds, deer and hares.

Who we are

The countryside meadow sits on land our family has farmed since the 1960s. James and George look after the paths and meadow all year round, Emily helps with marketing and Clair is here to talk you through every step.

At least one of us will be there on the day of the funeral to offer further support if needed, whether that’s pulling the funeral bier or giving less mobile relatives lifts to the graveside, we’re happy to help in whatever capacity we can.

The site was once an agricultural field but was diversified due to its incredible views that we loved so much and wanted others to enjoy too.

We are completely family run.
