Getting here from Bingham

Natural burial close to Bingham

Around 15 minutes from Bingham, The Vale of Belvoir Natural Burial Ground is a local, family-run green alternative to a traditional churchyard or cemetery. Set in a countryside wildflower meadow with 360° views and surrounded by nature, it is a tranquil place to visit.

Close enough to visit often

The site is open on foot every day, and the car park is open 9am-5pm in summer and 9am-4pm in winter. Many people simply stop by for a quiet walk along the mown paths, to sit on a bench and enjoy the views and nature, or watch the sunset over the Vale.

Working with your funeral director

We can work with a funeral director of your choice, and our funeral bier is available on the day at no extra cost.

A greener alternative to a traditional cemetery

Natural Burial is a greener way of returning someone to the earth, using only natural, biodegradable materials. With the site surrounded by nature, many families find it a peaceful place to visit and reflect.

Banana leaf coffin on the back of an old red Massey Ferguson Tractor with flowers on

There is no embalming, standard coffins or headstones. Instead: a wicker basket, banana leaf or cardboard coffin or a simple shroud.

With the option of a flat wooden graveside plaque or brass plaque on our remembrance wall.

The grave becomes part of a living wildflower meadow, home to bees, insects, butterflies, birds, deer and hares.

Who we are

At least one of us will be there on the day of the funeral to offer further support if needed, whether that’s pulling the funeral bier or giving less mobile relatives lifts to the graveside, we’re happy to help in whatever capacity we can.

We are a farming family that have farmed in the area for 3 generations. The site was once an agricultural field but we thought it was destined for more than this due to its incredible views that we loved so much and wanted others to enjoy too. Come and see for yourself.

We are completely family run.
